Our animals to accompany you

Two young Jack Russell dogs, the mother, named Saga, and her son Sacha, animate our rental riad. They provide security and keep company with our guests, if they wish.

Jack Russels are wonderful animals, particularly popular with children and very expressive. Be careful, they also prove to be very good goalkeepers if you touch their territory! Our mascots are however immediately able to recognize friendly people, in this case the guests of the Jardin aux Etoiles.

For three years, Saga lived the perfect love with Pacha, a little male of his age, who disappeared on June 30, 2017 following a nasty illness.

A happy event had previously occurred, September 17, 2014: Saga gave birth to four puppies, two females and two males. They are all four the exact replica of their parents! During the first three months, their mother developed a maternal instinct as strong as it was unexpected!

Four destinies

The first of the little ones found a buyer, in mid-January 2015, with a French resident in Agadir, now established in Marrakech. This little male was named Jook.

The two small females, they, Finette and Zoé, made the joy of two families of Agadir, before the first of them disappears while pursuing a cat. Was it stolen? Was she the victim of an accident of some kind? We unfortunately remained without news of this little dog, so charming.

Zoe, she gave birth to two small puppies, so that Saga and Pasha had become grandparents.

Saga, Jack Russell, chien, Suisse, Maroc

Born in Switzerland, in the countryside, in Ponts-de-Martel , in mid-August 2013, Saga, the eldest, is a nice and cute tricolor female. Independent in character, it has an assertive shoemaking temperament. She loves the heat of the sun. She also does it too often at her head, and she must then be reminded of her obligations.

Saga is also an athlete! Having legs longer than her Swiss brothers and sisters, she runs at the speed of a greyhound! She also jumps easily over an obstacle and moves with extraordinary flexibility.

does his parents in their time. Sacha is slender like Saga and hug-taker like Pacha was.

A niche surrounded by a fence and plants

Our dogs live in the specially fitted out hard kennel between the entrance to the Jardin aux Etoiles and the swimming pool, so that they are on the lookout for any unwelcome visitors. The interior of their niche is cozy. A soft "Special dog" blanket has been placed there.

In addition to this, you will need to know more about it.

A metal barrier was installed all around the niche, to form an enclosure of about fifteen square meters including two trees. All around have been planted sage, romarians and lemongrass. These varieties are known to be good tick repellents. Our dogs are thus protected, being moreover treated against these undesirable.

Depending on the exposure of the sun and the contingencies of the moment, our manager keeps our two Jack Russell on a leash near the banana trees which border the swimming pool or under the fig trees which are near our water tower. A variant is to let one of the two free. He won't go far, being very attached to the riad.

Solicit our steward

While it is possible to let our dogs frolic away from guests who do not want them to be near them, few people can resist their crazy charm! We therefore authorize those who wish to keep our canine duo with them. Please ask our steward for this purpose, in order to settle the details of this possible cohabitation. When you go out, please store your belongings in the riad, so that our dogs are not encouraged to play with them.

Saga and Sacha especially like to play in the Souss gallery (see our first video below). Occasionally, we take them outside the riad, for walks, for example on the beach of Ksar Massa , as we had done with Saga and the late Pacha (videos below).

Some practical rules to follow

If our duo should be noisy during the night - because they do their job as guards at the slightest alarm - take them out of their enclosure for a few moments. They will calm down.

Our dogs should not come into the house. If they do, our guests are invited to encourage them to go out. The best precaution is to close the patio doors. Our animals will thus be prevented from entering the riad.

Saga and Sacha have been trained not to drink or dive in the pool water. Please do not violate this rule. They do not like the water in the shower when it comes time to shampoo!

The place of their meal should not be changed. They have a bowl for water mixed or not with milk and a bowl reserved for food brought by our steward or their croquettes, sometimes accompanied by an egg or other treats.

Both Saga and Sacha seek the company of children. They often enjoy playing with them. Very communicative, our Jacks remain however animals. Avoid absolutely that your small children attack them by for example putting their fingers in the eyes.

Saga, Jack Russell, chien, Suisse, Maroc

Sacha is therefore the son of Saga and Pasha. His name, everyone will understand, is the contraction of that of his parents. Our Jack Russells understand their name perfectly and do not confuse it. A dog has an ear! More than many humans ...

As an adult, our youngest is less playful than he was when he was very young. He calmed down, as did

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

In Memoriam Pasha, very nice dog, faithful companion of Saga

Our little male named Pasha, companion of Saga and father of Sacha, unfortunately died prematurely, on June 29, 2017, at the age of three and a half. He fell victim to a disease called leishmaniasis. Treated for two years by a veterinarian from Agadir who proved incompetent, he was only diagnosed with this disease a little over a month before his death, by the veterinarian Hafida.
Saga, Jack Russell, chien, Suisse, Maroc

The circumstances which led to his disappearance were dramatic. The veterinarian Hafida has indeed asked the owner of Pasha to obtain a life-saving drug called Milteforan, which can only be found in Switzerland and Germany. No sooner said than done. The Milteforan was shipped from Switzerland by registered post at the end of May 2017. It did not reach Poste Maroc Casablanca until 15 days later (!).

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

Worse, it has been proven that this package stayed for 15 days in Casablanca! The Milteforan finally arrived, exactly one month after it was shipped, to the recipient. It was unfortunately too late. Leishmaniasis had gnawed this poor Pasha, who must have fallen asleep the same day, June 29. Thank you Poste Maroc ...

Pasha now rests in the Jardin aux Etoiles, alongside the remains of Astro , a magnificent German shepherd dog who also disappeared far too soon.

The Pasha of Marrakech

Pasha came to us from the district of the Marrakech railway station . This determined young male had seen the light of day six weeks after Saga. Shorter on the legs, Pasha was nevertheless the head of the couple and the dominant male of the family, especially towards his son Sacha.

He was the one who often barked first, who obeyed the best and protected his food the best! He knew how to make himself respected! Its name is a nod to the Pasha of Marrakech , who reigned until the independence of Morocco.

He loved walks

Pasha was a ball of muscles that accompanied Saga wherever she went inside the garden. Courageous, he was also determined! He loved being petted for a long time and going for car rides with his master, as well as visiting places hitherto unknown!

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

The circumstances of his disappearance have been the subject of dozens and dozens of expressions of sympathy on Facebook.
